Closed Account - No Reason, No Warning

Having a small business I applied for this card in 2006. I used this card to pay my vender each month instead of cash to build credit. I could rack-up $6k easy in a single month - I mostly pay it off in 30 days, sometimes 60 days. Then when I had no purchases nor a balance for a short time, they closed my account (sold to another bank card I didn't want). It was closed without warning, no letters or phone calls. After NOT using the new card issued - that card was also closed. It did not look good on my credit. Let me mention too; stay away from this card and Barclaycard as well. I would proudly recommend AMEX for businesses. I got my credit score back and better than before!

They closed the account & sold the debt with no warning or reason

I had an account in good standing with First Equity Business Cards until 2009. Out of the blue, I started to get bills from SST Deeto card services instead. My account had been closed. It is impossible to re-open it. And my credit limit was lowered. Now I am stuck with this debt on a card I can't use and a ding on my credit report. It looks on paper like I defaulted on the debt, when no such thing happened. Their practices, in conjunction with SST, sound like breach of contract and deceptive practices to me. I would not be surprised if the two companies are not branches of the same corporation.

Sandy business card

got the card..paid regularly..then interest payment exceeded my charges!! now i get threatening harassing phone calls..think they are so cute saying "I really wish you wouldnt pay it, there is nothing I would rather do than turn this over to an attorney"...wow, makes me want to rush out, rob a bank and pay them...lol how can they be so smug in calling late at night, waking everyone up when a simple letter would have been read better than the threats.. I offered my payment plan, he laughed so just screw him..I will do my payment because aI did get the card, but if they deny it, then i am FREE from owing them...

First Equity Card is a ghost company?

I have their MC.I tried using it today. Can't logon. When I call the customer service #, it goes to a recording with no opportunity to leave a message. I think this is a ghost company. Might be using us to collect our confidential information. Why in the world do I need to use a minimum of 100 words? What is with that requirement? I'd like to add to my complaint? www.pissedconsumer.com is a joke for having such a rediculous requirement. I thought 100 was a maximum which makes more sense! Weirdos! blah blah blah blah.

PAID CREDIT CARD IN FULL SETTLEMENT

I am concerned because I have paid My balance in full in 2008. 4,000.00 Through American Recovery Services. They transmitted the transaction on my behalf. March 2008. And NCO transmitted the information once again the corporate office for FIRST EQUITY office in August 2010. To clear up this matter for my Credit Report. But according to my recent credit report First Equity has not received their money from me and their still and outstanding bill floating and I am very upset and would like someone from first equity to return a call, please call me @ 502-564-**** ext-4227 ask for Gaila McElwain. Thanks.

First Equity non responsive to their clients

I just received a letter that my business account was closed and sold to another company due to their inability to raise capital. I have been a customer for over six years with an outstanding payment history.

I called to inquire about the new credit card laws and their lack of compliance with the grace period and on the same day they closed my account.

I called their customer service department and was put on hold for 35 minutes before I was able to talk to their customer service representative which she was not able to provide any answers to quesstions why the account was closed without notice despite the fact that their letter gave a grace period of one week and they were going to cap the credit limit to the current credit limit or an amount that is $100 greater than the existing outstanding balance.

They simply closed the account and blocked all activity for no sound reason. Moreover, I asked where I can send my final payment because the due date is fast approching and her response was to wait until I got the notice from the new company. I asked what happens if that information arrives past the due date? She had no answer and provided the same response.

I am glad that I will no longer have to deal with them in the future. Their operation reminds me of the TV commercial showing an office run by group of out of control apes. They have no regard for their clients.

I just found out that Deetto cards that took over for 1st Equity finds me two months late on payments. I checked and I did not receive any statements from them for two months.

Here I am on vacation in Florida and what do i do to find out my card number and info . It is all home. They wouldn't even give me the last four numbers of the card. then they wanted the last four digits of my social security number.

I did not give them anything , they wouldn't give me any numbers.

The number they called from is 877-***-*****. Any body else getting calls from this number?

Ellie Xir

Well, don't get too comfortable with SST either. It is a clearinghouse.

Deetto Visa is the card to which our business account was transferred almost without notice. We have not had a lot of trouble with any of our accounts because I see to it that all our credit cards are paid in full each month. Our business relies upon being able to order supplies as needed and the kinds of supplies we order are costly. If I let any one of our accounts go past the end of the billing period, our costs would just skyrocket exponentially.

I realize that not every small business can do this, but I watch every penny, hold the guys in line, and so far we have done pretty well because we are strong in repairs and restorations and people are not buying many new fireplace equipment items for new installations, but they are calling us to repair and inspect old stuff. That is our niche. My beef with SST/Deetto is just getting through to someone who is willing to help, for instance, with sending a replacement copy of an paid invoice so I can dispute with another company over non-response to an order.

BTW, don't try to call customer service at SST/Deeto on weekends, e.g., I found out there is no one "minding the store" on Sundays except between 5 and 9 p.m. - sorry, I didn't think to ask for the time zone!

For those of you that are looking for contact numbers for first Equity Bank credit cards, FE is no longer in existence. Yhey have sold their accounts to the following two entities:

1) Systems Services Technology

(877)339-****

2) Bankcard

(800)338-****

Hope this info helps you. I received no correspondence as to where or whom to mail payment to after FE stopped sending my monthly statements for the last four months! Good luck!!

Guest

i too would be interested in a phone number. I had one and they informed me they would be sending a replacement card, and I've seen nor heard anything from either company since May. I too know my due date has approached and have no clue where to send final payment.

Guest

The new company is no better either. It is called SST. They did not send a statement and when I call First Equity to pay, they told me I could not and the new company was that whatever payment plan I had with first equity, they will honor for 6 months then I go back to paying a lot of money.

Guest

do you by chance have their phone number? i attempted to contact them for the past week but so far no contact number has even showed up on their website!

Guest

In response to rwt, who indicated that First Equity does not report to the credit reporting agencies...you're right, it does not report to the consumer bureaus...

It DOES, however, report to the business credit bureaus. It always has.

If you check your business credit report, you'll see it for sure.

Guest

I have had an account with First Equity Card and I can relate to all that you are saying. I am glad my account has been transfered as well.

At least I wont have to deal with First Equity ever again. They are the worse in the business. They pretty much don't care. Another thing that is so interesting is that they do not report any credit history unless you miss a payment.

So, for 4 years, there is no credit history reported to any of the credit bureau. When I called customer service several times and they told me they do not report anything! However, when I wrote them a letter inquiring about it, they lied outright and said they report every month. I check my credit report every month with all 3 major bureau and for the last 4 years my record with First Equity card is no where to be found.

What a shame! The government should close this business, it is terrible.

First Equity Card Debacle

I also received a letter on April 21st, dated April 17th, a Saturday. Telling me that my account had been closed due to their lack of ability to fund the accounts. I had made some charges on the 20th prior to receiving their letter. The letter explained that my credit line would be equal to the balance plus $100 as of the date of the letter. Well, my balance on the 17th was zero. I have had perfect payment history with them. I then received another letter dated the 21st demanding payment in full or risk further charges. I believe these ex post facto communications are not within the legal limits. Further, where do i make the payments? Can't access on line and their phone just rings and rings. My assumption is they have a robo software that determines the lowest possible balance and then auto generates a letter. Have not received the bill from the next company yet.

These *** have judges in their pocket. I applied for this card for my small business.

When I got close to my limit they lowered my credit limit and then started charging over limit and higher interest fees. When I went to court for this the judge didn't even want to hear what I had to say. The same happened to the other 4-5 people that were in court because of first equitys predatory practices.

If you ever get a judge named Alan marks in Broward county request a different judge. He is bought and paid for.

I am having the same problem. I just received a call from a collection services telling me that I have a 900 balance on an account that was close in 2007.

And it got send to my credit report in 2010.

Please explain this to me. Can anyone help me.

Guest

WOW. I thought I was the only one that was having this problem. I am also in same situation except that when they sent me that letter I thought it was odd that they did not allow me to pay my balance and then tell me they sold my account to bankcard services. I immediately contacted them and they told me that they had no funds. I told them that I have no contract or aggreement with bank card services and that if they sold my account that I would not make anymore payments. I also can run out of funds. I am a small buisness and kept this card up to date and paid on time to keep my creidit score up. I right away thought this was just some kind of fraud and or scam. I dont really care what they do as I am not paying anything on this balance at ALL!! I really don't care about my credit rating anyway as I have other legit companies that have extended me credit.

Even when Washington Mutual was taken over by Chase I got a letter explaining and giving me the option to pay my debt off completely or continue with Chase under the same APR well I did that but then Chase a few months latter also decide to raise my APR for no reason as I still paid on time and always paid more than minimum. Almost paid of on that card and once I pay off on the other card I will only use those for emergencies and will continue to use my Amex and Capital one.

Can anyone tell me if they put there status on credit reports I have not checked mine since this happened.

check your credit report if possible on capital one. i just did and saw i had a zero balance with GFB LLC, which upon a Google search, it turned out to be First Equity and also provided a link to this forum.

I have been advised to pay nothing to the creditors. So it looks like i'll just let it ride till the statute of limitations runs out.

can someone please send me the address of First Equity.

so i can send them a notice that i am filling Chapter 7 on them.

if this goes default i am going to be mad. we actually closed all of our credit cards because "Dave Ramsey said to" and it is great being out of debt, or at least heading in that direction. never in default, just owed everyone.

got 5 cards payed off and this is mext but cant pay it! have you ever heard of such a thing???

Guest

We just won a good size judgment against them, and are now freezing their accounts until they pay us. I will keep you posted.

I had First equity businesscard and had not received statement since march 2010, and someone from Bankcard service called me for late payment in April or May 2010, which I pay by phone & for the 1st time know that 1st equity was not in business. The last time I was able to go to 1st equity website that routed me to Bank Card Services online Account Center was July 30 2010.

Now I could not find the website anywhere, neither receive any statement. Don't know where to make payment.

Any one know? Just hope not reported to Credit bureau for non/late payment; while I don't have the access.

I need bankcard website or atleast a phone number please halp

I need to make payment immediately or be charged a late fee. My email address is pjtheartist@***.com

First Equity Credit Card

They sent me an invitation for the credit card, then tried to immediately transfer my no fee business card to one with a fee & a much lower limit. I notified them by return receipt that I was filing a complaint with the Att. General's office. They then re-instated my original terms, and increased my limit. But when I paid off my balance, they again decreased my limit way below where my original limit was. Theh transferred my account to DEETOCARD.com? Problem there is that the website doesn't exist. Since I had a zero balance with 1st Equity anyway, now I'm worried about what sort of mess I'll have now.

I have been paying for years and years and I always pay over the min due and balance will not go down and this month increased again! I have not used the card in over 6 months,....

no way to get any help here... this is a total scam.

Am very concerned about deetto behavior. No physical address, no email support, reputation for bullying customer service.

I've been paying on a card for two years, my balance is only down two hundred dollars. This is a nightmare.

jillhughes H

The same thing happened to me. They sold my account and froze it up for no reason. And now they won't do anything to assist.

Ellie Xir

Agree with compalints about SST/Deetto. Very hard to get any customer service either on line or by telephone number. Finally had to get very direct about my dissatisfaction - I believe the words I used were "extremely irritated" until about the third time I tried to speak to someone on the phone, at which time I do believe I used the words "pissed off".

Guest

I had a worse experience. I've tried 3 times to locate a past statement and since First Equity no longer exists and it's not Deeto/SST's problem, I've gotten nowhere.

Guest

I was never too impressed by First WEquity...we'll see w/ Deeto

First Equity Card Services Lie, Mislead & Dont Value Customers

I have been with First Equity for over a year. I have a 750 credit score and never pay late or the minimum balance. I called First Equity because I opened a business checking account with my Credit Union. I wanted to take money from my First Equity card and deposit it into my business checking account. I called to find out what my options were. A representative told me that I should use the online payment link for that option. I followed her instruction while I was on the phone with her. Later that day I checked online to see if the process was pending and correct. To my horror, the money was drafted from my checking to make a payment to the card. This caused me overdraft fees with my bank because I just opened it and there was no monies to draw from yet. I call First Equity back and told a supervisor what happened. She apologized but stated she couldnt remove the payment. I asked if I reversed the charge on my end would they remove any fees due to their rep's error. She said yes. They honored that but unbeknownced to me they flagged my account with the notation "too many NSF charges"! No one told me for a month until I tried to use the same account to make an actual payment. I requested they remove it and call me back. I called every day for a week after that inquiring because it was not done and no one called me. Finally, I called one last time and a supervisor told me the request was denied. I will pay this off and terminate my business with First Equity this month.

To Wiser Now! Yes they closed all accounts.

All of us who never paid late and were in good standings were impacted the same way. I only have a few more payments to make but it pissed me off that they did not allow us time, knowledge or options to transfer our balance to another card. We were blindsided with this unprofessional company's mess! Unbelievable!

Im with you. I will never use a mailed invitation for a card again.

I was just building my business credit and this was my first experience. Wow!

Guest

I was a faithful customer of First Equity: Never was late...never missed a payment. How did they repay me?

Closed my account and sent it to a collections agency. I will never apply to another OFF-BRAND credit card company again!

Gosh! If you didn't want comments, heated, why did you post in a public forum? Did you misunderstand that term, too? I realize that you specifically did not like my reply (and the reply by First Equity Hater, and the reply by Bharat S.), but disparaging everyone who comments in any forum setting is a bit unwarranted, don't you think? Oh, wait...it's painfully apparent that you don't think, which is why you got yourself into this situation in the first place.

And by the way, I believe that if a poll was taken right now concerning this thread, the consensus would be that the only person ranting here is...you.

I'm glad you're doing well otherwise, though. Just try to relax a bit, and perhaps things will look better in the morning, when you're sober.

Furthermore, no need for a lemonade stand. I don't punch a time clock like you.

I am home every day and shop when I want, buy what I want...don't be jealous. I like any other business owner received a million card solicitations in the mail and just took one and received the lowest rate they had because of my credit and I'm smart enough to continuously have the company reduce the rate for on time payments and credit checks which they did every single time!!!! Laughing at you. Get a life.

I warned people about the company and now it tanked.

Go to bed or go to work. :eek

Thank you ex-employee of First Equity Card Services. LMBO!

I guess you didn't get the memo. I don't care what you have to say. When someone paraphrases they don't say exactly what they said originally. We already addressed that I used the correct term you slow person you.

No creativity or importance yourself.

You sound ridiculous spending so much time worried about me. FYI, I must be right seeing as how First Equity closed their doors. So there is nothing further for you to say.

Thanks but no thanks for your continued rants. Don't bother. I'm good. First Equity flopped.

So move on!

Bye Bye! :zzz :grin

C'mon walked you through it or not. If you got that messed up on your finances when your new business account was brand new.... I don't think you should handle your businesses money. Not even off the ground and your in the red.

Next time the correct word is transfer that is when you move money around. Payment is when it goes somewhere and never comes back!

Also how genius is it to try and cash advance from a card with over 20% apr on cash advances plus a 3% fee.

And now First Equity is out of business. So much for your introduction to business finance.

Silly sally time to go back to the lemonade stand

Guest

Didn't mean to rile you up, heated. What I find difficult to understand is how you could possibly think that following the steps for making an online payment would result in having money deposited into your bank account, instead of removing money from it...regardless of what that rep told you. You should have known better.

I'm not questioning your intelligence, heated. But I do suggest that you use it sometimes, especially when it involves your money.

Have a nice day! (But don't do it just because I told you to...you're the one who has control of that).

I am sorry I got you upset, though, and I wish you well for the future.

heated

Hey no! What part of the rep walking me through the process on the phone don't you understand????

Geez!!! You seem bright as well but if someone is walking you through the process that is supposed to be knowledgeable in the procedure, you follow the steps as given. Don't try to insult my intelligence because you are getting away from the topic at hand. THEY BLOCKED MY CARD DUHHH!!!

WTH DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THE REP TELLING ME TO DO IT ONLINE AND OF COURSE I SAID CASH ADVANCE SMARTY PANTS. OMG.

READ!!! DANG.

Guest

Heated, just out of curiosity here...didn't it raise any questions for you when the rep said to hit the "payment" link? Didn't it strike you as odd when you went and filled out that online check, with your routing info on it, and your info as the payer?

What did you really expect to happen here? You seem very intelligent by your writing, and it seems obvious to me that the rep didn't hear the words, "I want a cash advance...I do not want to make a payment".

Did you say that? I'm not trying to pick a fight, but jeez...

heated

Yes I saw that. So I wonder what Bharat thinks now.

I think far more complaints and poor account management have resulted in this takeover. :grin

Unwrranted cancellation

I had a First Equity card for a few months as my small business card. I requested that they change the payment due date to a date more in line with my paychecks, which of course they agreed to do - no problem - except that after 4 months the change hadn't yet taken place as promised. When my next statement came, I was so frustrated that I wrote, on the statement itself - a terse note saying in essence, keep your promise or cancel the card. They chose to cancel the card. The telling detail is that in so doing, given the choice between keeping their word and cancelling, they CHOSE NOT to keep their word. Now that tells you something about their business ethics. Believe me, they are NOT that hard to replace. First Equity is not worth the grief they so enjoy giving you. They also call you approximately 2.5 seconds after your payment is due to inform you your payment is late. Who does that??? Any other company is better - ANY company.

First Equity Credit Card

The below comment was posted Oct 22nd. Our company also has a First Equity CC that we have had for a few years. Our credit line is $10,500, and as of today we have an outstanding balance of 2K. We pay about 2K a month. I'd like to add that we have never even once been late on any payments, as the payment is sent in 5 days before the due date. Today all of a sudden the card does not work. WTF is this? I called the Customer Service agent and was told that the acct was on a Corp Review and not to be used at this time. What that means is anyone's guess. I did speak to a Supervisor who said she has no explanation and that she will send in a request to have this review stopped. I asked for a contact at Corp but they don't have that information. Oh they have it, but you ain't getting it. She said to call back in two days to see if this has been corrected. Well, I have a great solution. I am going to have our accounting dept pay this acct in full and close it. We charged over 45,000.00 in 2007 and owe a stinking 2 grand and you did this to our company. So Mr. First Equity agent. Tell me why this happened in the first place and why a good customer such as our company has to endure this type of treatment? We don't! I just now activated a Corp card that we have had with Washington Mutual. Bet they won't treat us this way. Maybe as the other poster mentioned...You have the money problems, we DON'T!! Update: As of Oct 26th we paid this card in full. On Oct 31st I called to see if they were all done with their little Corp review of my acct. The lady said that her notes don't show that I even called them in the first place. But she would now send them a review request. I have however cut up these cards, but just for grins want to see what they come back with. A buck says they will have some new Weather Report...Either way our company is done with them. Let em go find another company who charges about 4 grand a month and pays their bills on time, every time.

:( we had a fairly large account with First Equity and they kept changing our terms, fees, and rates! We have closed our accounts and will never go back! many other creditors to choose from!

Guest

Yeah we had the same experience. Only a $1,500 credit limit, had the card for a couple years and no problems.

Suddenly they stopped our card. This is just the case with private banks. We all have to stop thinking that they are responsible or government institutions and realize they are just corporations. Banks in particular though don't seem even to be able to treat you like a client, or even a consumer.

I'm not asking for friendship. I'm asking to at least be *** informed that my credit card has been canceled.

Gimme a break. And we put these people in charge of our mortgages.

First Equity credit card scamming

I have a First Equity small business visa card. When I made my payment with an electronic transaction from my bank last month it never showed up on my First Equity account. I called First Equity and they claim they never received it but my bank says they processed it to them.

I sent another payment and was told that I would have late charges because although the late charge is not suppose to be placed till midnight their system processes payments after 3pm on the next business day. So although I paid and they recorded my payment BEFORE the late charge was to be applied they claim they can still apply it.

Next I tried to use the card and it was declined. I called the customer service department and was told that "the corporate office has placed a hold on your card but we are unable to tell you why." When I asked who could tell me why the woman restated that she was unable to tell me why.

I asked for a number to call for the corporate office and was told that I would receive a letter in 7-10 business days telling me why and that I could call back in 2 days and "the hold would probably have been removed."

When I insisted that I wanted to know the REASON for the hold I was given a PO box number that I could write to and again told that customer service has "no way of knowing or finding out why the corportate office has placed a hold on the card."

This is a brand new card with less than $200 charged on it and a credit limit of $2000. I had a problem with the first payment that they say I never received and my bank says they did. I am going to pay off the amount and get out. I think I may have to kiss my $50 payment goodbye although I have filed with the attorney general.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!

Yeah, I got the 7% rate too. and then one day i looked at the rate and it was 26%.

Not notice given. It had been going on for a few months.

When I signed up with First Equity they offered a 7% teaser rate to be fixed at 11%. After I built a balance after an international business trip, they raised the interest rate to 29%.

No late payments, no change in my credit. These are shysters of the worst sort--avoid these weasels like the plague.

Same problem. WE've been paying on time for about a year on our first equity card and all the sudden there's a mysterious "hold" on it.

They can't tell me why. I have to "write to the corporate office."
